The Production Operator supports the packaging and production of Chesapeake Coffee Roasters’ coffee and tea products. This role is based in our Crofton warehouse and focuses primarily on packaging operations, equipment use, and maintaining a clean, efficient workspace.
In-House position - Location: Crofton, Maryland.
Schedule: Part‑time, 3 days per week
Reports to: Production Team Lead and Production Supervisor
Production & Packaging
• Follow standard work methods and all safety requirements to ensure efficient, safe production:
- Hair net or hat required
- Gloves required when handling open food products
- Closed-toe shoes required
- Shorts must be at or below the knee
• Fulfill, replenish, and stock all wholesale, retail, flavored, and contract-packaged products.
• Calculate, weigh, and retrieve the correct amount of coffee for packaging.
• Operate production equipment, including:
- Weigh and Fill machines
- Vertical form-and-fill machine (Avatar)
- Direct drive double sealer
- Retail can labeling machine
- Flavoring drums
- Constant double foot heat sealer
- Grinders (as needed)
• Pack finished goods into appropriate packaging and boxes.
• Print and apply correct labels to all products.
• Place finished goods on designated pallets or shelving.
Documentation & Organization
- Maintain accurate daily production records.
- Keep work areas clean, safe, and organized as directed by the Production Supervisor and Operations Manager.
- Maintain orderly workspaces
- Support efficiency improvements
- Ensure work area is fully cleaned at the end of each shift, including trash removal
Distribution Support
- Assist with product distribution for foodservice accounts as needed, including part‑time deliveries and restocking grocery/retail accounts (including DSD accounts).
- Refer to the Driver Responsibility document for additional delivery requirements.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort operating equipment.
- Willingness to take direction and perform cleaning or remedial tasks as needed.
- Forklift/reach truck experience preferred; training available after probationary period.
- Ability to work Monday–Friday, starting no later than 8:00 a.m.
- Willingness to work occasional early mornings, nights, or weekends.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
